Our story was like one of those fairy tale love stories your grandmother would have made up, to convince you to get married. I believed in that fairy tale. I believed in love, and him, just as much. Working for the same company without knowing it, our paths crossed in Kuwait in the Middle East. There we were on our first date. He was talking to me like he knew me for years! I loved him, I was sure of that then. I wanted to marry him and live happily ever after. After two years, a wonderful home and endless experiences together, he proposed to me on a romantic hot air balloon ride. Of course I said YES!
Planning a year and a half (from Kuwait!) our wedding took place on a beautiful day at Red Ivory Lodge in Hartbeespoort Dam. The bridesmaids and I started to get ready in the bridal suite and before I knew it, it was time to get into my wedding dress before leaving to get married! Arriving at the chapel, the doors then opened and I could hear the acoustic keyboard playing, and it was at this moment it hit me, when I saw hubby standing there for me, I loved him the same way I did the first day I saw him…
The ceremony went by so quickly and it was the best thing that has ever happened to me! Throughout the ceremony I kept trying not to cry (for the sake of my make-up!) We sealed the deal with a kiss, and we were married! Leaving the chapel we were showered with rose petals and millions of pictured taken. Everyone had a sparkler at the entrance of the reception and all the speeches blew me away! We opened the dance floor with ‘When You Love A Woman’ by Journey, done live by Ghapi (SA Musician). The food was lovely and everyone was merry! Time for the father daughter dance - we had planned a slow dance which then cut out and changed to a rehearsed dance of different medleys, then we finished off the slow song. It was a huge hit! Everyone danced the night away and it was truly a night to remember!
But today I can tell you that he is the most romantic person in the world. He is responsible for bringing out the best in me and I am not afraid to be myself with him. He is mine and I could not ask for nothing more.
