Wedding Skin 101. Part 2

We are back and ready to dive into Elmarie’s first official treatment at Dr Nerina Wilkinson & Associates. The morning started off with a lovely catchup before the treatments commenced. We simply love collaborating with the Dr Nerina’s team of dedicated Skin Care Specialists – the entire experience is so personal and curated to each of their lovely patients.

Elmarie’s introductory treatment started with a MesoGlow Facial. This treatment includes an exfoliation to help remove dead surface cells to promote optimal cell turnover. Bernice, our dedicated Skin Care Specialist introduces specialised solutions into the skin with mesotherapy to target areas of concern at the root. The treatment is finished off with a 30min LED stimulating treatment to ensure the product is properly absorbed by the skin for ultimate results. We have broken down the various elements of this treatment process to ensure you are well educated and up to date on Elmarie’s customised skin journey!

We are sure you have often heard the term Chemical Peel but what is it exactly? Fear not ladies, we have broken it down to ensure you have a full and complete understanding. A chemical peel is a technique that improves the skin’s texture and appearance by applying a chemical solution to the skin, which removes the outer damaged layers. The amount of skin removed will depend on the type of chemical used, strength of the peel and how long it is left on the skin or how many layers are applied to the skin.

Elmarie was treated to a Fruit Acid Peel which is beneficial for:

  • Skin rejuvenation on ageing stages 1-3
  • Improving oily congested skins
  • Controlling mild to moderate acne
  • Reduce superficial skin discolouration
  • Improve skin texture
  • Evens out skin tone and helps prepare skin for further treatments

This type of peel results in a superficial, fine peeling of the skin.

Mesotherapy is an amazing non-surgical cosmetic medicine treatment that is used to describe the process of delivering active ingredients into the middle layer of the skin. This no down time procedure is used to treat a variety of cosmetic concerns and is anti-ageing. The skin will appear smoother, softer and more youthful in appearance after each session.

Mesotherapy is done using very short fine needles to inject actives into the dermis or mesotherapy cocktails can be combined with your medical needling treatment to enhance results. The skins condition will start to improve from the first session already which is a major BONUS! Elmarie’s skin looked so hydrated, healthy and plump after her session.

By far the niftiest thing we have seen, LED Light Therapy has some major benefits for the skin. Elmarie was treated to the Dermalux LED Light Therapy post Mesotherapy. This non invasive treatment uses therapeutic light energy to trigger the skins natural rejuvenation and repair processes without any pain or downtime. Making use of a combination of pure visible red, blue and near infra-red light to stimulate the deeper skin tissues. LED Light Therapy can be used as standalone treatment or combined with another treatment seen in Elmarie’s case. Bonus, it enhances results and assists in healing!

The LED Light Therapy treatment is complete with some soothing sounds to help you relax. Use the 30min to stop and catch a breather or even a quick nap. We won’t tell if you wont 😉

And there you have it, a MesoGlow Facial in all its glory. This minimally evasive treatment is perfect for that mid week pick me up. With no downtime, Elmarie could quite easily return back to office and continue her day. Stay tuned for more on her amazing skin journey.
