Rich Chocolate Cake

No one ever says no to a delicious cake and this decadent and luxurious rich chocolate cake is a sure crowd pleaser. Whether you serve it for a scrumptious afternoon tea or after dinner treat, one thing we know for sure is that your guests will be begging for more. 

  • 6 Jumbo Eggs (Separated)
  • 1L Bulgarian Yoghurt 
  • 500g Butter
  • 4 Cups Castor Sugar
  • 2 Cups Cocoa
  • 5ml Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 4 Cups Flour (Sifted)
  • 200g Dark Chocolate
  • 100ml Cream
——    METHOD    ——

Grease two ring moulds or two muffin pans with butter or Cook and Spray and set oven to 180’C. With an electric mixer, beat eggs until light and fluffy. Once completed, gently fold in your Bulgarian yoghurt. Cream your butter and castor sugar and once light and fluffy, gently fold in cocoa and bicarbonate of soda. Add to to your egg mixture and combine with the flour. Take care to not overmix. Place your prepared mixture into the oven at 180’C and bake for 45min to 1 hour. 

Whilst your cake or cupcakes are baking, you can prepare your rich chocolate ganache. Melt chocolate and cream in the microwave and stir thoroughly ever 30 seconds. If the consistency of your ganache is too thick, add a little more cream until you reach your desired feel. Allow to cool and drizzle over your cooled cake. 


Get creative and decorate your beautifully prepared cake with fresh florals beautifully placed in the middle of the cake. Dust lightly with icing sugar to add extra pizazz.
