If you can’t imagine the usual background music working for your event, local artist Wiam Otto’s honest, acoustic talent might be just what you are looking for. Wiam has performed at hundreds of shows, functions and weddings, and at some of Southern Africa’s top festivals, including KKNK, Aardklop, Strab (Mozambique) and White Mountain Folk Festival.
Wiam’s guitar style is deeply influenced by the acoustic roots music tradition from the Appalachian Mountains region the Southern states of America, called ‘Bluegrass flatpicking’. This is a virtuosic and energetic style will bring authenticity and charm as few other style can. Wiam plays these traditional acoustic country songs and instrumental numbers which are reminiscent of the fiddle style songs (fiddle tunes) of old time barn dances.
Wiam also covers Poplar and modern artists such as:
Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen, Phillip Phillips, Mumford and sons, George Ezra and the Lumineers to name a few. This is not your typical performer.
