Fort Simon, nestled in the beautiful winelands of Stellenbosch, offers a wedding and function venue unique in character and impressiveness. This beautiful and romantic castle-style venue overlooks a picturesque valley of vineyards setting the perfect ambiance for your romantic occasion . Let us provide you with the most beautiful setting to celebrate the happiest day of your life.
The venue consists of:
Housed in Fort Anna, a foyer and reception hall, surrounded by lush gardens and lawns. Built in 1969 as a venue to host private functions, the small fort has been expanded in 2013 to include a reception hall for weddings.
Fort Simon's lawn, a lawn with our large fort styled cellar and vineyards as a backdrop is available to host a garden ceremony.
Houmoed cellar wedding chapel. The oldest building on the estate dating back to 1908 was initially a wine cellar. In 1967 Dr. Simon Uys removed the concrete tanks used previously to ferment grape must, in order to use the building as a barn to store agricultural tools and tractors. In 2013 the project was undertaken to restore the now defunct building and transform it into a wedding chapel. Great care was taken to restore just enough in order to preserve the building's old-world character. Today the walls bear silent testimony to the first red-wines produced on the estate more than a century ago by the deep-red stains etched into the concrete.
The venue and chapel can accommodate 120 guests comfortably with a dance floor.
