Most unexpectedly in a bar, i met my husband. After a few weeks of back and forth, we began dating
i lost my dad 6 months prior, and i had never felt so much love and support from than i have from St John. We spread my fathers ashes in his favorite fishing village, and under the stars the night before, where St john knew i'd be closest to him, he asked me to marry him
We had a weekend event, and the greatest part was watching all of our friends and family get to know each other throughout the Friday night. We could never have guessed how well everyone would get along, and by Saturday afternoon, every one had become as close as family. On our way back to the alter for confetti toss, i 'elegantly' lost my footing on the stairs, pulling my husband down with me. Luckily, it was caught in slow motion, and no one was hurt :)
We spend 7 magical days in Zanzibar, experiencing the culture and living the island life. It was very hard to leave.
I had a elegant form fitting trumpet dress, with beautiful embellishments on the shoulders and around the waist. my shoes were lace block heels. Hair and Make up was done very naturally and flowy, as Cape Town winds are unpredictable. I had small diamond earrings, as my dress was my statement.
We had a weekend wedding at the Blue Bay Lodge in Saldanha along the West Coast. Friday to Sunday, all guests stayed with us the entire weekend. I wouldn't have done it any other way.
My Sister and Myself practice a very health lifestyle, so the only regime the two of us picked up was the vertical sunbed. It was Early September, so we were both as white as my dress :)
The decor was rustic and beachy. The flowers consisted of local arrangements, that meshed so well with the fairy lights and candle lit lanterns we used for lighting. The reception area resembled an upmarket barn, with the backdrop of the ocean. We used big wooden banquet style tables with no table clothes, matched with white Tiffany chairs. Pastel pinks, blues and purples worked so well with the rustic nature of the entire event
The groom and his groomsmen all sourced their suits from Mr Suit hire, each rocking a grey tie, with the groom in a red tie. They matched these suits with superhero themed cuff links, with the groom being Superman.
My bridesmaids wore sky blue boob tube chiffon dresses that flowed effortlessly. I found the dresses on Pintrest and located the supplier.

Other than the help of my friends and family, i did it all myself
We decided on a non traditional cake. We built a cupcake stand from log slices, filled shot glasses with Amarula and stacked oreo cookies and candles around each tier. It worked wonderfully. The food was prepared by the lodge

We worked on a playlist for about 6 months, a friend of mine lent us sound equipment and we relied on our natural born talents to dance the night away. Lighting was candles and fairy lights
