How did your love story begin?

We met at Action Netball. We played together for a few seasons but never really sat down to have a chat. As time went by we eventually spent one night to get to know each other and we just "clicked". We had so much in common and he could make me laugh non stop. The connection we had was nothing I have ever felt with anyone before. We started seeing each other almost every day and I was just so happy! We really suited each other and have been inseparable since.

After a few years of dating off to Cape Town we went for a well deserved holiday...

Tell us all about the proposal.

I have been wanting to go to Cape Town since myself and Hayden met so in December 2015 he decided to surprise me. We went to Cape Town and it was one of the best holidays ever.

On the second or so day of our holiday Hayden really wanted us to go to Table Mountain as they had a Sunset special on and he thought watching the sunset would be amazing. So we went online to book tickets, but unfortunately the tickets were sold out. He was really upset about this and I couldnt quite understand as we had a lot of time still to visit Table Mountain. A few days passed and he decided we must go to Table Mountain and just buy our tickets there. As we got there, they informed us that due to high winds the mountain was closed for the day. At this point it seemed we weren't meant to go up the Mountain haha.
The next day came and we checked all updates on the weather etc and it was a perfect day. But before we could go Hayden said we must buy a few snacks and drinks to take with. So we went to the shops and did we buy a lot. Champagne, Wine, Crisps, Biscuits, Chocolates. Why? I did not know... We even had a to buy a cooler bag to put everything into. I kept on asking him why all of this is necessary and he said he just wants us to be prepared and have enough, because it is going to be a long day. Thinking nothing of it we bought everything and off we went.

We finally managed to get in a cable car and onto Table Mountain. Wow what a view and definitely worth the wait! We walked around for quite a bit and don't forget, we have all the snacks and drinks with us that we need to now carry. After all the walking all I wanted to do is find a nice comfy spot to sit and chill but no, Hayden had other ideas. He was looking for a quiet, secluded spot where it would be just the two of us.

After more walking and the sun starting to set he finally found the "perfect" spot. I was just too happy to be able to sit down. It was freezing up there and I seriously couldn't feel my face, toes or fingers haha. I underestimated how cold it gets up there so I didn't really dress accordingly. But at least Hayden was there to keep me warm :)

We started talking as we watched the sun go down and then he started pouring his heart out... He got up and went down on one knee (i just need to add, the "perfect" spot was between rocks so he didn't have a lot of space and shame, he actually cut his knee) and then took something out of his pocket. My heart was beating so fast at this moment I did not know what to do with myself. After the most beautiful words he asked me to be his wife!!!! And of course I said YES!! This was one of the best moments of my life and I wish I could re-live it over and over.

Magical Moments

During the course of the day whilst we were getting ready Hayden sent gifts to me and also a voice message which was just super special and made me cry, of course.
The moment I walked down the aisle and I saw him and how emotional and happy he was to see me. I will never forget that feeling or moment.
When we said our Vows and I just new from there onward that he is going to be my husband for the rest of my life and that I am the luckiest woman alive!

The Honeymoon

Yes we did. Yay!

We went to Thailand for 2 weeks and what an amazing place. Will go back in a heartbeat

My Special Day

I really wanted a very natural and soft look when it came to my make up and hair. My hair was long curls with a few added pins to finish it off. My Make up was a very soft smokey eye look. I had an a-line strapless dress with detail on the bottom. My underwear and shoes was very simple as I was thinking of comfort at the same time. I only had dewdrop earrings with a tennis bracelet.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I went for monthly facials at Treatment Couture as well as hair treatments at Blunt Front Hairstudio. I tried to eat as healthy as possible, however I never got to gym.

Wedding Elements

Our colour scheme was Coral, Mint and Grey. Most of our colours was used in the flowers, which was a soft arrangement of coral and white roses. The tables were white damask table cloths with white Tiffany chairs. It was an open reception area so we got a lot of natural light during the day. The lighting at night was soft and cosy with 2 fires burning the entire night.

Flowers and Decor: Magnifique
Stationery (menues etc.): Troulantyntjies

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The Groom wore a light grey suit with a Mint tie and white shirt.
The Groomsmen wore dark grey suits, with a waist coat and mint bow ties

They bought the suits at the Oriental Plaza in Johannesburg

My Captured Moments

We only had a photographer - Nadia, Wildflower photography.
She was absolutely amazing! She just knew how to capture things at the perfect moment and she is just such an amazing person to work with. She knew how to make us feel at ease and just enjoy every moment.

Wedding Transport

I had a horse carriage that took me and my bridal party to the chapel

Food & Cake

Oakfield Farm prepared the food. It was a buffet with beef and chicken with vegs and starch.
The food was out of this world! I almost went for seconds haha.

Our cake was a bit of a mess as there seemed to have been some miscommunication between us and the lady who baked it. We wanted a white buttercream icing caking with hints of coral and mint in the icing. However we got a naked cake with red velvet, chocolate and vanilla flavours. With the mix up and all, the cake was still very nice

Wedding Stationery

Our stationery was done by Troulantyntjies.
We had 2 menu's per table and a table number. All was printed on pearl shine paper with coral or mint watercolour effects

The Reception and Entertainment

We had one big jol! Everyone was dancing and the music was great.
My husband and I did go for dance lessons for our first dance as we didnt just want to plain and boring close dance as our first dance.
Our DJ was Matthew with Cream Cheese and he knew how to read the guests and just knew what to play and when.
