Pretty standard story: boy meets girl. Girl tries to friendzone boy. Girl is tired of how awful boys are. Boy pursues girl, even taking her to see her favourite musical (Phantom of the Opera). Boy's generous heart and chivalrous soul change girl's mind and girl realizes she's just spent too much time with awful boys and has finally met a gentleman (a truly rare specimen). Boy asks. Girl says yes.
Knowing I would not want a public proposal he arranged for a friend of mine to take me out for the day and get my nails done (well thought through). When I got home he was all dressed up and had made us a lovely dinner. He had strung fairy lights in the house, lit candles and Elvis was on the record player. It was a beautiful private engagement.
Our wedding day was truly amazing. As a fairly tightly wound, anxiety machine I was sure that I would be a complete mess on the big day, but strangely enough I was relatively calm and not stressed at all. Everything was perfect. I married my favorite person in the world in front of all of those closest to us.
We had the most amazing honeymoon in Zanzibar. We spent the days lounging on the beach drinking cocktails, swimming with sea turtles in lagoons or among fish in mangroves. It was a truly out of this world experience and I cannot wait to go back.
We had an fantastic experience with Heatherbell's who did the flowers. They are the loveliest husband and wife team. They arranged all the flowers for the tables.
My mother crocheted covers for tins and we planted succulents in them. We also collected 100s of glass bottles and jars and covered them in lace, hessian and twin for a rustic look. Some were filled with candles and Heatherbell's filled the rest with flowers.
Our photographers were Carolien and Ben and our videographers were JD and Sam from Fire Productions. They were all so fantastic to work with and made you feel comfortable being filmed all day. I would recommend either teams to anyone!
We had a Donut wedding cake with a small carrot cake for cutting. We ordered both from Elsa's Bakery and they were delicious!
