Married on Aug 6, 2016 in Western Cape

Cobus and I met at church. He is a bit younger than I am but we clicked instantly. Not romantically, but as friends. We were part of the same cell group and we all enjoyed spending time together outside of church. Through this, Cobus and I formed a closer bond.
It took quite a lot of time (and even more prayer) for God to open both of our eyes to what He had placed before us.
It was a great struggle for me to even think that this great, God-fearing, sensitive, strong, attractive guy would be interested in me. He again could not imagine why an independent, strong woman would want to share her life and heart with him.

After praying about it profusely, we finally realised that we cannot imagine our lives without one another, so even if we can't see how things would work out, we knew, there was no way we were willing to NOT give it our all.

We basically knew since we got together that we wanted to get married. The question was just when the right time was.

We spent a lot of time talking about life, what we believed and prayed some more :-)

God promised us that He would make a way for us, and He did. No matter how tough it got.

On 30 October 2015 the man of my dreams dropped down to one knee at the Franschhoek Country House and asked the big question.

And that was the start of our forever.

The two of us were very excited about our wedding and planning it together. With the exception of one or two hiccups along the road, we thoroughly enjoyed to planning and preparations. We did a lot of things ourselves, meaning all the bridesmaids were on duty along with some family members.

Altydlig Wine Estate stole our heart with its name, firstly (always light), but even more so when we saw it for the first time. It was perfect. The most beautiful hidden gem in the Stellenbosch Wine Valley. The venue itself was a feature and therefore I wanted to keep the decor simple and classic. The style was in the line of rustic chic.

Although we are not in a traditional church, Cobus and I always loved beautiful old church buildings. When I saw the Dutch Reformed church in Kuilsriver with the beautiful dramatic wooden interior and the stunning church tower, it was a done deal!
We would get married in that church. Fortunately it was only 10 minutes away from Altydlig.

We painted recycled glass jars aqua and hired some other decor from Decor4U for our table decorations.
My aunt made beautiful ceramic crosses with our table names on and a friend, Shane Cronje, made wire crosses for the name tags.

My very creative sister had the amazing idea of using ivy to create the back drop behind the Bridal table.

We bought our flowers from Direct Flowers and did the arrangements ourselves. Another friend, Chantall Marshall from Chantall Marshall Photography assisted me with all my stationary and bouquets.

Our wedding really was a community project.

On the 4th of August 2016 we started with the final arrangements for our Wedding!

With great excitement, some of my bridesmaids and family started to decorate our venue, the beautiful Altydlig Wine Estate.

Our wedding colours were champagne and aqua. We hired champagne table cloths, white serviettes and wooden slices from Decor 4 U for our table decor. We used aqua painted recycled jars as our center pieces.
My aunt made beautiful ceramic crosses with the table names painted on it which we also used as part of the center piece.
We used different kinds of white flowers throughout the wedding with lots of greenery. Some of the greenery were lightly sprayed with gold to give it that glamorous touch.

The bridal table's back drop consisted of 4 meter strands of ivy with fairy lights in between.
This was A LOT of work, but SO worth it in the end.

When the final touches were made, it was time for me to pack for my two week honeymoon and get some rest with my bridesmaids, daughter and mother at Blydscap Guesthouse.

At 05:00 the morning of 6 August 2016 we all woke up (with great difficulty) to get ready as we needed to get to the church by 09:00.
My poor photographer, Michelle DT Photography, and make-up artist, Anelda Botha, had never started with a wedding that early!
It was so worth it though. To see the sunlight break through and overlook the gorgeous vineyards was just amazing. All while we are excitedly chatting and sipping on our coffee.

Just before I got dressed, the moment suddenly overwhelmed me... I could not believe that I am finally getting married to the man of my dreams. I could not believe that I am going to have a fairy tale wedding. When my make-up was practically done, all these thoughts overwhelmed me and suddenly I could not keep the tears back! Really not the best time, but looking back it was such a special moment.

We were finally all ready and left for the church.

Everything was perfect. Even though we forgot our bouquets at the guesthouse :-) Oops!

Our relationship with God is very important to us, so placed a large amount of focus on what happened during the ceremony. The photo of Cobus, Elaine (my daughter) and myself worshiping on our wedding day is one of my favorites because it captures our hearts desire so perfectly!
We exchanged our vows, kissed for the first time as Mr and Mrs Saayman! To seal the deal we had communion together and prayed for each other and our road ahead.
That moment was probably my favorite moment of our wedding. The little moment of alone time together and with our Heavenly Father.

We were married!

From that moment on we could not stop smiling!

The morning continued at Altydlig with muffins, rusks and coffee while we take in the crisp morning air and savor the view of the vineyards and Table Mountain.
Shortly after the family photos the reception started.

Our guests enjoyed a wonderful brunch spread while chatting away with family and friends. The room was buzzing. It was wonderful.

After heartfelt words from the maid of honor (my sister) and the best man, we could catch up with our guests.

We had our couple photo shoot after all of the formalities were done. This was the perfect time for us to reconnect and reflect on the day that passed.

It was the best day of my life! But the best part by far, is that I can be with my best friend every single day!
