Growing up, I always wondered what it would feel like to fall in love... The answer to this question was always the same, when you meet that special person, you will just know it. Not to mention that love will come knocking when you least expect it. All of this came true on the day I fell in love with Kennith. We truly did meet as friends and the rest is history. On the 15th of March 2001, I met my soulmate and both of us knew from day one that we would spend the rest of our lives together. Our wedding day was without a doubt, the best day of my life. Everything I have ever dreamed of growing up became a reality on Saturday the 16th of May.
Our special day took place at Destiny Lodge in Cullinan, a beautiful Victorian style venue with a white rose garden – perfect for our Alice in Wonderland theme. Everything from the guest list to the décor and menu was planned to suit the styles and delights of our close friends and family. We wanted each and every guest to experience every single part of our day whilst bearing witness to our unconditional love for one another and for each one of them.
Although our wedding was only on the Saturday, the festivities and celebrations started early Friday morning with the bridal party attending a spa day at Janharmsgat se Agterplaas in Cullinan. Everything from our breakfast to the spa treatments was shared with my sister and two best friends. Our girls day out was the beginning of a weekend filled with love, happiness, gratitude and everlasting memories.
Saturday morning brought with it its own surprises, butterflies aside a delicious gourmet English breakfast accompanied by champagne and chocolates. Our big day was finally here; I was hours away from committing my everything to the love of my life.
After a few hours of prepping accompanied by a whole lot of girlie stuff, photos, nervous moments and moments of serendipity, it was finally time to walk down the aisle. No words can describe the feelings and emotions one goes through whilst walking down the aisle, staring your future husband straight in the eye…. Everything was picture perfect.
We ended our ceremony off with our first holy communion together as a married couple, one of the best memories of that day. We weren’t just surrounded by tear jerking moments though, the party started shortly after with tons of yummy treats and Sundowners whilst we roamed the streets of Cullinan trying to capture every gift God had so perfectly laid out for us.
Home cooked meals, delicious deserts and tons of dancing formed part and parcel of our special day. An everlasting bond of love was formed on that day and I have loved my husband a little more every day. The only reason I would turn back time is to have the day all over again!
