April fool’s – the one day in the year dedicated to pranks and foolery – has now become the wedding day of choice for some. This year is the first time in almost a decade that April fool’s falls on a Friday.

April fool’s day – the one day in the year dedicated to pranks and foolery – has now become the wedding day of choice for some. This year is the first time in almost a decade that April fool’s falls on a Friday.
We are noticing that a lot of brides are opting for a Friday rather than a Saturday Wedding Celebration; I contacted one of our trusted Wedding Planners, Natalie de Gois from NDG Events for some inside info regarding this new phenomenon.
This year, NDG Events have had the privilege of Coordinating & Planning a few Friday weddings, making her somewhat of an experts in this field.
According to Natalie, these seem to be on the increase these days – reason being;

- Venues usually have a reduction in their rates for weekday weddings.
- You are almost certainly guaranteed to secure your chosen date.
- That special venue, wedding planner, photographer & DJ are also more likely to be available as, more often than not, Saturdays are usually booked first.
- Fridays are great because it is an extension of the weekend and your guests get the opportunity to book a day off work! Yay!
- The bridal couple can plan another get together for all the family and friends again on the Saturday or Sunday to open gifts – write Thank You cards, etc – it becomes a weekend celebration.
- This additional day gives everyone the perfect opportunity to swap stories from the wedding day and wish you a fond farewell before you head off for your honeymoon.
