Four Season Tent

The wedding marquee has evolved from a practical convenience to a reception style. Over time, the design of the marquee – inside and out – has been improved to create an impression of class and sophistication.

And, as the marquee has become more popular, hiring costs have also seen some changes – the marquee business is now sufficiently extensive to accommodate budgets big and small.
The practical benefits of the marquee speak for themselves. It’s the outdoor wedding’s ideal safety net against bad weather. It provides a wonderful hassle- and mess-free alternative to couples staging their wedding in their garden. And it provides an easy and cost-effective solution to a slightly-too-small reception venue. If the inside dining area looks onto a garden you could position a marquee adjacent to the dining room, extending your reception room into the garden itself. This will allow some of your guests to be seated within the marquee, but still close enough to share the atmosphere and not seem detached from the main party.

Despite its increasing popularity, the wedding marquee remains something of a novelty next to the likes of a restaurant or hotel setting. That sense of ‘otherness’ is reinforced by the marquee’s allowance for personal creativity. Unlike a typical reception venue, a marquee can be decorated according to your very own taste and desire. In this way, it can serve as an all-embracing reflection of who you are as a couple.
Some companies also offer customised marquees. You can choose from pleated or flat, coloured or plain linings to suit your theme. Swags come in a wide variety of colours and may be applied in a variety of ways. Other options are roof swags - drape overlays that lie across the marquee roof – and drops that are suspended along the walls. Play with colour combinations to create the desired effect. A black-out lining helps create either a dramatic scene or a fun dance atmosphere. Marquee poles provide another opportunity for creative statement.

For those couples who favour a neat, clean and traditional scene, simple ivory linings and standard gilt chairs are recommended. These can be dressed up with ivory seat pad covers and matching tablecloths.
The other decision you’ll have to make is whether or not to include a floor. Generally, the more formal your desired impression, the more important a floor becomes. If you’re planning a relaxed daytime wedding, you may choose not to floor or to lay just enough for a dance floor. This will enable your guests to fully enjoy the pleasures of a garden reception.
The marquee is remarkably malleable. It can be shifted from square to long strip to L-shaped. Some marquees are also seasonally adjustable. For instance, one can open up the walls in summer, allowing an enjoyment of both the natural surrounds and protection against the elements. The marquee also offers the freedom of mobility. Pick any spot on earth and your marquee will follow!
A wedding marquee is ideal for up to 300 guests.
