Around the world, the recession has produced a decidedly mixed
bag of trends in that most august category of after-party, the
honeymoon!
As far as the honeymoon is concerned, bridal couples are showing
a stubborn recession resistance. Surprisingly, couples are more
inclined to make sacrifices on the ceremony than on the honeymoon.
What’s more, in some countries couples are opting for lengthier
honeymoons. In America, for instance, the typical honeymoon has
extended from 5-7 days to 10-12 days.
Of course that’s not to say that the search for value for
money has been discarded. Special deals, promotions and packages
still carry significant weight in influencing couples to select
one honeymoon destination over another. All-inclusive offerings
- that simplify the honeymooners’ budgeting process and
allow them minimal contact with their wallets while on holiday
– are enormously attractive to today’s husbands- and
wives-to-be.
Destination weddings – multi-day events that roll the wedding
and honeymoon into one - have gained popularity of late. And,
depending on the choice of venue, these will either take the event
the whole nine yards or help the couple cut costs for a more economical
affair.
