What is Lanzerac all about?The magnificent 5 star Lanzerac Hotel & Spa is set in the heart of a 155 hectare working wine estate on the outskirts of picturesque Stellenbosch. Established over 300 years ago, today the estate is renowned for superb luxury and first class service, thereby earning it a coveted place amongst the most prestigious luxury hotels and wedding venues in the world.
Forty-eight luxurious en-suite bedrooms and suites ensure the Lanzerac maintain its air of intimacy. Guest’s every needs are catered for with private bath and separate shower, international direct dial telephone, electronic safe, mini-bar, DSTV, Wifi, tea & coffee making facilities, 24 hour room service, under floor heating and air-conditioning. Classic decorating and genuine antiques complement the authentic Cape Dutch architecture, whilst every room opens out onto a private patio with views over landscaped gardens, lush vineyards and the Helderberg mountains. What does Lanzerac have to offer future brides-to-be out there?The Lanzerac is an idyllic and intriguing venue. A beautiful and historically significant estate – the perfect backdrop to a dream wedding! Offering 3 separate, fully air-conditioned venues each with their own private entrances and natural daylight. Seating capacities range from 20 to 160. Other venues available for small or intimate weddings or events include the Taphuis Bar, Esquire Bar, and the Governors Hall Restaurant.
The Estate: Approached through a grand avenue of plane trees, bordered on either side by grape-heavy vineyards, and ringed by the Helderberg Mountains, the estate is arguably one of Stellenbosch’s most iconic and picturesque. . The Cellar Venue: A separate private building adjacent to the actual Lanzerac Winery & Cellar with private entrance and toilets. Full separate banqueting kitchen and service are also part of the venue. A special feature is the soundproof glass wall - offering a full view of the working wine cellar. The Cellar venue seats 130 with a dance floor and 160 without a dance floor.
The Manor House: The exclusive 190-year-old Manor House can be made available. This venue offers 2 elegant rooms seating from 6 to 30. It is also an excellent historical venue for private in-or-outdoor food and beverage functions. The Lady Anne Courtyard: This is an elegant Mediterranean styled courtyard complete with graveled terraces, wrought iron seating and colonial canvas umbrellas. Perfect for intimate summer weddings, with seating up to 80 guests. The Manor Lawns: Behind the Manor House lies the large open lawn, with panoramic views of the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains, which is the perfect location for an outdoor ceremony and can accommodate weddings receptions of up to 400 people, under Marquee.
What do you reckon is the one thing that makes Lanzerac so successful?The staff! We have a greatly passionate team of dedicated and experience staff members. Total peace of mind for the bridal couple! Jeanine Niewoudt and Karen Alexander manage the hotel’s Banqueting Dept and boy do they do a super job! We are currently in the midst of a bumper wedding season and the feedback from happy brides has been quite overwhelming!
Regarding Consultations – what do you offer in terms of this?Future Brides are encouraged to make an appointment with either Jeanine or Karen. The prospective client will be met at the hotel’s front desk and taken on a full site inspection of the estate, including the hotel’s facilities, the various ceremony and reception venues and the accommodation. After a lengthy discussion around the Bride’s wishes and vision, our team will draw up a personalized and tailor made quotation. On acceptance of the quotation, Jeanine or Karen will act as the Brides main point of contact – in essence their personal in-house wedding planner leading up to the couple’s special day. We are also able to assist with liaisons with all external suppliers, taking as much stress of the Bridal couple as possible. The Lanzerac is also one of the few venues that offers a complementary menu tasting to the Bridal couple.
Is there anything else you would like to add in terms of your organization within the wedding industry?We offer a complimentary double room to the bridal couple for the night of their wedding, on a bed and breakfast basis, should they hold both the ceremony and the reception on the estate. For Reception bookings only, a 50 % discount off the double room rate will apply. The Lanzerac estate is also home the Lanzerac Spa & Wellness Centre (under the brand of Simply Spa) which offers the perfect retreat for the bride and her family. The Spa Bridal Package includes: a complimentary welcome glass of champagne, a manicure, a pedicure, Dr Fish nibble, a full body massage and body exfoliation, aromatic foot soak and full use of spa hydrotherapy facilities. The bridal party is encouraged to make use of our accommodation at the hotel. All accommodation is bed & breakfast and includes a wine tasting and cellar tour. So with the spa, the tasting room and the swimming pools, the Bridal party will never have to leave the estate!
