Throw away your mascara!

Ok... stop blinking ... you read correctly! Throw.Away.Your.Mascara. The latest 'craze' to hit Bridal-Town is 'lash extensions'. They are ingenious little fibres that simulate your natural lashes, but they are BETTER than your real lashes! If you are looking for luscious, long lashes, then look no further.
Best of all, they can look completely natural, so nobody need ever know that you had a little 'help'. This really is the updated version of 'false lashes', and this way you don't have to take your lashes off at the end of the night – they stay on! In fact, they can stay on long enough to see you through the wedding day AND the honeymoon (bonus!).
The way it works is really simple
The lash fibres (new eyelashes) are applied directly onto your existing eyelashes – in fact, each lash fibre is applied individually to your individual natural lash, by means of a special bonding agent. It is an extremely intricate process and should only be done by a professional and accredited Lash Extensionist. Another great thing is that the lash fibres are curved, so when they are placed onto your lashes, they will naturally curve up and 'merge' with your natural lashes – looking completely natural and making an eyelash curler obsolete!
Semi-permanent
The lash extensions are semi-permanent, and can last up to 2 months; however this all depends on how you care for them. Do not use an oily-based eye make-up remover, and better yet, do NOT wear mascara! (well, you won't NEED mascara – the lashes will look divine just as they are!). The more care that is taken when the lash fibres are applied, the better it will be to make them last. Treat the lashes 'gently' – some seem to think that a silk pillowcase is the key to make the lashes last longer, but the longevity also comes down to how quickly your natural lashes renew themselves … after all, the lash fibre is applied to your natural lash, so if you natural lash falls out, so will the lash fibre attached to it. This is why the '2-week refill' is crucial in maintaining the fullness and additional length gained, especially if you wish to have others think that you are 'au-natural'. But do not put your life on hold because of your new lashes – shower and swim like normal!
Go for both fullness and length
For my brides, I recommend that they go for both fullness AND length when having their lash extensions done. Fullness along the top lash line is the best for impact, with slightly longer fibres added onto the outside corner of the eye to give that 'alluring look'. You can even have colour fibres added which brings out the colour in your eye, but I really would keep this option for special occasions – special occasions that doesn’t include your wedding day! I am a true believer of a classic look that will look beautiful for years to come, so I always encourage my brides to have the fibres added that closest-match their natural lash colour.
... Until next time dear brides, keep batting your darling ('natural') lashes!
Much beauty-love,
Nicolette
