Using the nose-to-eye measuring technique is the easiest way to create the perfect brow.  It’s so easy - anyone can achieve this!

The first rule in shaping your eyebrows is this: You can only work with what you have.  If you have thin eyebrows, you can fill them in with pencil or suitable eyebrow brush and shadow.  Tweezing can be painful, especially if it’s your first time.

Top Tip: By pulling the skin tight, then tweezing it will ease the pain.

Start by holding the end of a long mascara brush vertically in line with the beginning of your brow and side of your nose.  This is a good indication of where your brow should start, but be careful; this is the farthest you want to go.  Tweeze the hair that grows beyond the brush handle in the middle of your two brows; we don't want any uni-brows!

Hold the brush at an angle from the side of your nose across your eye, the middle of the brush should cross over the pupil of your eye - this is an indication of where the highest point of the arch of your brow should be.  Another reference point is the top of the nostril, still aiming for over the middle of the pupil for a medium arch, but the far side of the pupil for a large arch.

Create your eyebrow arches and choose exactly which hair you will be removing by marking the unwanted hair with concealer or white pencil so you don't wander off.  What also works for me is to comb the hair upwards - then you see the hair that is not in line with the brow's natural shape at the bottom and you can remove them.   I only remove hair on the top of the brow if it is really necessary, or cut them with eyebrow scissors if they are very long.   If you take too much off on the top you can change the whole shape of your brow and it will not look natural.  Always follow your brow's natural shape and neaten up instead of taking away too much hair.  Maintaining your brows as they grow out is better than letting it grow out completely and shaping them all over again and remember that the more you tweeze the hair, the less they will grow back, so be careful not to over tweeze.

Holding the brush at an angle, from the side of your nose, just pass the outer corner of your eye where the brush meets your brow is where it should end.  Be careful to end your brow to short, as this will look unnatural. Always follow the natural brow as much as possible; only remove the hair that is out of place.  Refer back to the nose-to-eye technique during the entire shaping process to make sure you stay on the right track.

Filling In Brows

Some brows may need some filling in if they are very thin - always try to do this as natural as possible.  Brush the brow with your brow brush before you begin.  By brushing the hair downwards it is easier to see where to fill in.

For creating more definition I'm using powder shadow and a suitable eyebrow brush.  Choose the colour that matches your eyebrow.  If you have very dark brown to black hair, use a dark brown colour, never black.

Start at the inner corner of the brow and make sure you fill in all the gaps in the brow hair, using short light stroke movements.

Create your arch, also using short light stroke movements, turn brush and start working your way to the end.

Make sure that you extend the brow long enough, using your guideline as shown in Image 3.

Finally, brush eyebrows upwards and into place.

Top Tip: I like to put a bit of hairspray onto my brush when brushing them – it keeps them looking great and in place the whole day.

There you go - you have your perfect brow!
