Glamorous 50’s Make-up

Whenever today’s starlets talk about Old School Glamour they are referring to the glamorous 1950’s era where it was all about the red lip! If you are looking for a glamorous Hollywood look for your wedding day then the 1950’s style is the way to go. This look can be as natural or as dramatic as you would like it to be!

Make-up for the 50’s consists of Cherry Red Lips, Rosy Cheeks and Neutral-toned Eyes. You can also ask your make-up artist to apply false eyelashes for your big day as these look stunning in photos.

How to get the look

  1. Eyebrows should be thick, lifting slightly at the arch and tapering towards the end. If your brows are too thin you can fill them in.
  2. Apply a thin layer of foundation onto your eyelids.
  3. Then choose a matt or shimmery soft eye shadow that will not draw attention away from the rest of your face. Apply this to your eyelid from the base of the lashes up into the socket.
  4. Apply your false lashes – trim them to make sure they fit perfectly on your top lash line. Apply glue to them and let it dry for a few seconds. Apply them to your own lash line (make sure they are dry before moving onto the next step) they should enhance your lashes without looking fake.
  5. Use liquid eyeliner along the top of your lashes. Taking the line out a bit more for a cat-eye look. The thicker this line; the more dramatic your look.
  6. Apply mascara to your top (helps blend them into your false lashes) and bottom lashes. Depending on how dramatic you want your look to be you can apply one or two coats of mascara.
  7. Apply your foundation, you can spray a setting spray over this to set your makeup and then translucent powder {this will keep the shine at bay}
  8. Apply your blush; starting from the centre of your cheek bone and working out towards your hairline.
  9. Line you lips and then apply your red or tangerine lipstick and a gloss.

There you have your quick and glamorous 50’s look for your special day. Remember to have a touch up kit for your maid of honour to keep for you throughout the day. This can contain translucent powder, a powder puff, lipstick and gloss. For an added extra you can include a spray bottle with Rose Water in; spray this over your face throughout the day and night for a refreshed feeling.
